LAST DAY!!

Hey everyone! Tomorrow is our LAST DAY in 2018 together! No need for backpacks. We will get the social studies exam out of the way and party the day away! Please bring your postcards so we can address them and send them to our pen pals! I’m going to show the kids how to address and send a postcard. So if you happen to have stamps, send those too!

And! Casual day! 🥳

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION!

Hi Parents!

I have the sign-up sheet for the Christmas Celebration! You can click on the link and add your name next to what you would like to bring. Last time we had about 6 boxes of donuts, so the kids didn’t eat much else, so PLEASE! only 1 or 2 people sign up for donuts! Feel free to bring more than one thing, but please try to bring at least one item.

Sorry for being so last minute! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks!

Prodigy (again)

Sorry to make a double post about Prodigy! I’m just wanting to communicate with parents how important it is that the kids are playing AT HOME! I know it seems silly because it’s a game, but I’m actually assigning homework though Prodigy! If they are not playing at home, they are likely missing homework! I know some students love Prodigy and some hate it. The reality is if they hate it, it’s probably because they are struggling in Math, making it even more important that they play it! I don’t want them to get discouraged though. If they don’t know an answer, they can skip it! Prodigy is all about practice, and I’m not expecting them to have all the answers or get everything right. In fact, when they get things wrong it helps me know what skills to target! Prodigy is also great for the kids who are advanced, because I can give them more difficult challenges. Everybody can work at a different pace and no one has to be compared. It’s awesome! So please please remember to reinforce Prodigy at home!

Thank you!

Side note: Monday for the field trip, we are going to be in Old San Juan all day, so no need for book bags or school work. Just a day of fun! Don’t forget to bring your kite!

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY PLEASE BRING COMPUTERS!!!! It is our last 2 days of school so we will be playing games! (among tests obviously) but I’d like to incorporate as much fun into our last couple days as possible! So we’re going electronic!

Thank you for all your support as parents and for all the patience you have with me! I’m so happy to be working with your kids, they are fantastic!!!

Oh, I will also be posting the food sign up for our Christmas Celebration! Make sure to check the classroom door!

The cat is out of the bag!

The kids have probably told you by now, but we are going on a Field Trip! I’m excited to be able to take them to El Morro and spend a day having fun before the holidays! I’m hopeful the letter with the details will be coming soon. It will be a full day field trip and we will be eating out! My hope is to be able to order pizza and have a picnic in the grassy area outside El Morro, and then afterwards we can fly some kites! I will include the money for the pizza in the total cost for the field trip. Also, feel free to send extra money for the gift shop, or if the kids want to buy some ice cream! We’re going to spoil ourselves! The date for the trip is MONDAY, DECEMBER 17. We will leave from school right away and be back in time for the final bell at 2:30pm.

FINAL EXAMS!

Every kid should have the information for the final exams in their notebooks. We are going to be using this entire week to study for the final exams. Math is first (this Thursday) and it will cover Times Tables for numbers 2, 3, 4, and 5. It will also cover the concept of factors and products (factor x factor = product). English (Friday) will be a review of the grammar that we’ve been studying (progressive, simple past, etc.) and will also include reading comprehension. Science (Tuesday Dec 18) is going to cover the body (Unit 3, Lesson 1).  And Social Studies (Wednesday Dec 19) will cover the Puerto Rico Population (Unit 1, Lesson 5) and Taino Society (Unit 2, Lesson 1)

Hopefully this helps and is not too much information overload! Things are getting crazy as the year winds down, so thank you for your patience!

December is HERE!!!

Hi Parents!!

I hope everyone enjoyed the Puerto Rico night on Friday. I’m so sad I wasn’t able to go. I wasn’t able to miss my research class at the university. 😦 I really wanted to see the kids dance. If any parent happens to have a video of the performance I would love it if you could send it to me! I’d love to see the video and maybe we could watch it in class with the kids! I hope you know I really wanted to be there. Balancing my university schedule with teaching hasn’t been the easiest and I’m sorry for that!

This week I decided that since we have an English test on Wednesday, we won’t do spelling words this week. It’s just too much with a test and a spelling quiz. Poor kids! Because we have the English test on Wednesday it is VERY important that everyone brings their computer and CHARGER on Wednesday!!! (Also don’t forget that Tuesday is computer class day, so the kids need their computers Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday).

The English test covers 3 areas:

  1. Subject – Verb agreement
  2. Modal Verbs
  3. Progressive tense (Past, Present, Future)

Again, the test will be on the computer (through google classroom) so PLEASE HAVE COMPUTERS AND CHARGERS!!!

Thanks again for all your work that you do with the kids and the ways that you help me as a teacher. I really appreciate you as parents!

Hi Parents!

We are celebrating Thanksgiving as a classroom on Wednesday, November 21. The sign up sheet for things to bring is on the classroom door. – Thank you to Mrs. Torres for making the sheet for me!!! Much appreciated! 🙂 –  I realize there’s not a lot of time left because we don’t have classes Monday, so if you’d like me to add you name to the sign up sheet, please let me know! Here is a copy of it! Thank you so much for all your help!!!!

4th grade thanksgiving

Happy November!

Here are the spelling words for this week! Also, please don’t forget to download the English Lesson if you haven’t already. We have been working in Unit 2 Lesson 3 “Developing Language Proficiency”. I realize we’ve been in this lesson for a couple weeks now, but it has a lot of content. When I was gone last week on Thursday it seemed that not everyone had it downloaded so the substitute couldn’t work on the lesson. So please make sure your student has it downloaded!
